EF International Language Schools (Canada) Ltd. is looking for certified ESL teachers with the ability to teach a wide range of levels on an on-call or short-term assignment basis. Classes may include EF General English, Special Interests (e.g. business English and exam preparation), Canadian culture workshops, and University Preparation.
All lessons are scheduled in-person at our downtown Vancouver Campus (750 Cambie St. Vancouver, BC), Mondays to Fridays, between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. There are no gauranteed hours for this role. Substitute teachers should have some weekly availability and flexibility to jump into classes on short notice.
Utilize EF’s cutting-edge, in-house curriculum to deliver student-centred, communicative language classes. Curriculum, resources, training and ongoing professional development are provided. Our supportive Academic Management Team will ensure you have the tools you need to deliver a great student experience every day!

Responsibilities
As a teacher with EF, you will...
Teach students of varying English proficiency (A1-C2) from diverse nationalities
Utilize EF’s in-house curriculum, technology and methodology
Deliver student-centred, communicative language classes
Add your own “sparkle” to the lesson plans to bring them to life and ensure your students are learning as much as they are having fun
Prepare weekly schemes of work and lesson plans with specific learning outcomes
Assess students and provide meaningful feedback on language improvement
Accurately record student attendance and grades
Communicate with the Academic Management regarding student academic performance, classroom behaviour, and well-being
Work with administrative staff to help deliver a 5-star experience to all students!
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any field* [required]
*Candidates with higher levels of relevant education (e.g. Master's in TESL) will qualify for a higher starting pay rate - TESL Canada Level 1 teaching certification (or equivalent TESL qualifications with minimum 20-hour practicum, such as the CELTA) [required]
- 3+ months of experience teaching ESL in a classroom setting with 16+ students [preferred]
Candidates with 2+ years of relevant ESL teaching experience will qualify for a higher starting pay rate. - Flexible and able to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
- Responsible, approachable and friendly
- Energetic, engaging and passionate about language learning
- Experience with standardized tests such as Cambridge, TOEFL, and IELTS a plus
- Experience teaching English for career development a plus
